Pastoral Liturgy®

The six 32-page, full-color issues of Pastoral Liturgy® follow the course of the liturgical year to provide guidance for liturgy preparation, faith formation, liturgical art and architecture, and the many areas of parish ministry that flow from the liturgy to witness the Gospel and build the kingdom of God.

Throughout the features and columns, the magazine delves into the pastoral nature of liturgy and aids in the preparation of liturgy, the catechesis of children and youth, the spiritual development of its readers, and adds to their knowledge of the historical development of the liturgy. Using the liturgy as its source, this magazine has been intentionally designed to be of service to the whole parish with resources for leaders and parishioners, those who are just beginning to learn about liturgy, and those who are seasoned volunteers and professionals.

Pastoral Liturgy® includes:

  • "Preparing for Sunday"
    • In its study of the prayers and the readings of each week, "Preparing for Sunday" will enhance the understanding of the interconnectedness of each element of the Mass. Besides for those preparing the liturgy, this feature will aid ministers of initiation as they engage in liturgical catechesis with catechumens.
  • Feature articles on subjects reflecting the liturgical season highlighted in the issue
  • Liturgical Ministries articles
  • Liturgical Catechesis for children and youth
  • Q & A
  • Published six times a year.

The editorial team from Rite magazine changed the name of the periodical from Rite to Pastoral Liturgy® in 2008. The new name better reflects the mission of the magazine: to aid ministers' efforts to bring their parishes to full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy.
